Festival of Self-Interest is the debut album of Chicago based producer and multi-instrumentalist Aidan Eubanks. In 2018, Aidan set out to write and record an album that reflected the chaotic nature of his life as an exhausted and beat down service industry worker. The music deals with depression, rejection, heartbreak and outright rage through a lens that Eubanks describes as tragic, but funky. Music being the only healthy outlet in my life, I had no choice but to blend the highs and lows of my experience to try to express the poignancy of it all, says Aidan. There were plenty of good times, but god damn it was such a drag. Nearly all instruments and performances featured on the album were performed by Aidan himself, usually in some ungodly hour of the day after a long shift. The result is a singular and stylish album that is as much fun as it is a bummer.
