This is an antique statue of The Dancing Lord Shiva, Hindu God, Nataraja, the Divine Cosmic Dancer. This four-armed figure has one foot on a dwarflike prostrate demon signifying ignorance. Lord Shiva signifies creator, preserver, and conversely, destroyer of the universe. Shiva's dance is set within a flaming halo symbolizing the life of the universe. In his upper right hand he holds a drum symbolizing the first sounds of creation, while his upper left hand holds the fire that will destroy the universe. His lower right hand makes a symbolic act that dispels fear. This bronze sculpture measures 14" tall x 12" wide, has a beautiful patina, and is in very good condition. Thanks for stopping by.
